ABOUT US

Heifer Peru is a legally recognized international technical cooperation agency that has been registered with the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Relations since 1984.

Heifer Peru is a national program that cooperates, accompanies and encourages sustainable efforts and proposals by farm organizations, groups of small urban and rural producers, small farm communities, their associations and federations, women’s organizations and youth groups to address problems of poverty and environmental degradation, with an impact on food sovereignty at the local, regional and national levels, improving the quality of life of families and their communities.

Our projects are designed to address serious problems: loss of biodiversity, food dependence, the exclusion of rural stakeholders, desertification as an environmental problem, gender inequality and unequal distribution of wealth. Poverty affects 48 percent of Peru’s population, a figure that is even higher in rural areas.
